Perth to Bunbury Highway

Client: Southern Gateway Alliance
Project Period: 2006 - 2010

GHEMS' Role

GHEMS was contracted in November 2006 to undertake seed recovery operations from areas of native vegetation within the areas approved for clearing, from within bordering areas of remnant vegetation and from the wider Swan Coastal Plain. We also partnered with the client to salvage Grass Trees (Xanthorhoea preisii) from within the clearing corridor and transplant these plants post construction of the new highway.

In part working in partnership with the client we provided the following services:

• Tree salvage and transplantation
• Provenance native seed collection
• Minor soil surface preparations
• Direct seeding
• Components of seedling planting
• Hydromulching

Outcomes

All components of the scheduled services and material supply were conducted on schedule and were of a high quality and standard.
